Goldie A. Gunlock Memorial Park is 49 acres, donated to the city in 1996, by the Gunlock family. The area has undergone a restoration of approximately 13 acres of wetlands and the enhancement of the existing wetland. The restored wetland areas will incorporate several diverse wetland communities in order to promote environmental education at the site. The open or upland area has been converted to a tall grass prairie to further add to the variety of communities found within the park. The large array of diverse habitats will in turn diversity the wildlife, as well as providing unique educational opportunities.
A self interpretive trail begins at the Wal-Mart parking lot near the train track. It continues through the small field along the east side of the Wetland and into the wooded area along the river. The trail turns west into the center of the wooded area and ends in the Goldie Gunlock parking lot.
